Migration Stories Show
Grupo Folklorico Raices de Mi Tierra presented one of the most ambitious projects of its 15 year history on May 2nd, 2009. A collaboration between dancers and graphic artists, the show focused on the theme of migration. That night’s performance wove together the stories of the dancers and their families, the common experience of leaving a beloved place behind, the memories of the past, and the hope for a brighter future. Immigration in the United States has always been a loaded political topic, but we wanted to present its human dimension. For us, migration has never been just an issue. It is and always has been a personal journey filled with longing, sacrifice, and resilience.
